LYRICS

I can't tell them who you really are now
in the middle of the night, you're always there for me
I can't tell them who you really are now,
but all day long in my mind you're all I see
I see the light, through my window, in the morning call me
think of you every moment as I start my day
walk the light, dreams and visions reocurring for a
magnificent obsession that's you

I can't tell them who you really are now
hidden loves we keep locked and far from view
I can't tell them who you really are now
I write our names in a rock and toss it out into the blue

Can't tell them who you really
Can't tell them who you really
Can't tell them who we really are

Ah, unrequited love. This individual inspired many of my early songs, especially "Love Is Abandon", "We've Years To Catch", "Lejandami" and this one. One day on a lunch break I was at a lake and put my name and the person in question on a rock and tossed it into the water.
A reflection of where the emotion was going - in the drink!

This song was recorded for my "Secret Things" album at Coubro Studios in 1988. I would stay up in the early morning, 3 A.M., writing songs at 30 Dragon Court in the 1980's and toss the songs on cassette. Jay Couper went into the "shopping bag" of material and he and his brother Scott recorded instrumental versions. I put my vocals on this interesting album 1988/1989.

The song was originally released on BOSTON ROCK & ROLL ANTHOLOGY #12, with D.J. Harvey Wharfield announcing the tracks. "Suky's Revenge" also appears on that compilation, recorded during those sessions.

It is now on
